Obituary

Hilbert Williams was born July 25, 1959 to Pearlie Mae Williams and Theodus Thomas in Columbus, MS.

Hilbert accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and remained committed to His word.

Hilbert attended school in the Columbus Municipal School District and had fond memories of attending Mitchell Elementary where he developed his passion for reading. Hilbert graduated from R.S. Caldwell High School in 1977 and attended East Mississippi Community College. In high school, Hilbert was Vice President of his Senior Class, Hall of Fame member, and Mr. Caldwell.

Hilbert was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses throughout the community such as Astro World Video Arcade and Williams Discount Groceries. Hilbert eventually found his passion as a realtor and in 1985, he became a licensed realtor and later earned his broker license. Hilbert was a  business partner and friend for over 36 years with Geraldine Holliman and Rick McGill. They bought their first company in 1986 which was McCrary Real Estate Properties Unlimited. They later bought Crye-Leike® Properties Unlimited and then sold the company in 2020. Hilbert was named 1998 Realtor of the Year. In 1999, Hilbert served as president of the Golden Triangle Association of Realtors. Hilbert was one of the first graduates of the Mississippi Association of Realtors Leadership Class.

Hilbert served on various boards throughout his career; Baptist Memorial GT Hospital, Golden Triangle Development LINK Executive Board, Community Advisory Board of BancorpSouth. On the state level, Hilbert served as a member of The Republican National Committee under former President George W. Bush in an appointed position. In 2000, Hilbert served on the Executive Board of the Mississippi Association of Realtors.

In October of 1992, Hilbert met the love of his life, Shirley Tate, and they were married in 1994. They celebrated more than 28 years of commitment.

From this union, they became the parents of two handsome boys, Hilbert "Landon" and Colby.

In addition to his mother, father and wife, Hilbert leaves to cherish his memories four children: April Williams of Marietta, GA, H. Landon Williams of Chicago, IL, Colby Williams of Columbus, MS and Haley Richardson of Ethelsville, AL; five brothers, Theotis Williams of Topeka KS, Willie Williams, William Thomas, Jr., Terrell Thomas, of Columbus, MS and Siniki Thomas of KS; two sisters, Glendora Thomas of Chicago, IL and Monique Thomas of Columbus, MS; one sister-in-law, Margaret Hill and one brother-in-law, Johnny Washington, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special business partners and friends, Geraldine Holliman and Rick McGill.
