Hughlon McKnight, Sr. entered this world on October 22, 1943, in Bogue Chitto, MS to his parents Mattie and Sandy McKnight, Sr. After graduating from college, he served stateside and overseas in the U.S. Air Force where he worked as an aircraft mechanic technician during the Vietnam War era. After full-time service in the Air Force, he settled in Columbus, MS where he served with the Army National Guard for fifteen years and was employed with Omnova Solutions for over thirty years before retiring.

Hughlon was married to Jean Alice Vaughn for fifty-four years. Hughlon's skill set as a mechanic continued as a hobby during his spare time, providing auto repairs for family and friends. He also had a huge passion for working crossword puzzles and cryptoquotes, and having dining outings with family.

Hughlon was a member of United Christian M.B. Church.

Hughlon departed this life on May 1, 2023, in Columbus, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert McKnight, and his brother, Clifton McKnight, Sr.
