Obituary

James Willie Ervin was born April 13, 1951 in Brooksville, MS to Richard Ervin, Sr. and Lenny Bell" Mattie" Ervin.

He attended Noxubee County High School. Later, he united in holy matrimony to the late Pearlie Mae Bardley-Ervin. James worked for Holcim in Artesia, MS for 30 years as a train operator.

He was a devoted father and husband and he always put his family first. He accepted Christ at an early age. He served as a deacon at Second Baptist Church until his health began to fail.

James transitioned this world peacefully on April 20, 2025 surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sisters, Mary Ervin, Pecola Ervin, Dorothy Mae Ervin, Theresa Ervin, Barbara Jean Ervin and Catherine Ervin; brother, Richard Ervin, Jr.

His memories will be forever cherished by his son, Nikeal (Shameika) Ervin of Columbus, MS; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lenny Bell Ervin of Tupelo, MS, Rosie (Ervin) Ricks of Itta Bena, MS, Thephine (Tommy) Prince of Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
