James Stewart transitioned from his life on April 30, 2024, in Macon, Mississippi. He was a man that not only loved God but possessed a deep love for his family and friends With patience and love, he showed himself friendly by extending his hand to those in need. His charming ways and smiling face are a pleasure to recall.
James accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as church clerk, Sunday school teacher and deacon.
He graduated from Noxubee County high school. He worked at Caljac Manufacturer Company. Later he served as the 1st African American Justice Court Judge, employed with the Noxubee County School System and retired from Mississippi Department of Corrections in Macon MS. He was an active member in his community as well as serving as the President of the Sandyland Community Center.
James was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eppie Brown of Chicago, llinois. He was the elder of 13 children- Linda Brown Haynes, Lil George Brown, Elmond Brown (Edward Greene) and Steven Brown (Evelyn).
James leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Dorothy A. Stewart of Macon, Mississippi; his two daughters, Amy Stewart Thompson and Valerie Wells of Atlanta, Georgia; three God-sons, Eris (Annette) Dowd of Macon, Mississippi, Curtis (Stephanie) Williams of Columbus, Mississippi, Fernandas (Ashley) Taylor of Huntsville, Alabama; one granddaughter, A'Myia Thompson of Atlanta Georgia; seven siblings, Irma Jordan (Theodore Jordan) of New Jersey, Mary Brown (Oscar Irvin), Bonnie Phillips, LeVoria Thompson (Charles Thompson), James Brown (Deborah), Jeremiah Brown, David Brown all of Chicago, Illinois; a sweet loving aunt, Bobbyjean Stevenson of Macon, Mississippi; special niece, our sweet Christina (Ed) Brown; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
