Obituary

Jerrico Gelmon Dooley was born on July 2, 1996, to Doreen Taylor and Glenn Dooley. Affectionately known by everyone as “Laffy,” Jerrico brought joy, laughter, and light into the lives of all who knew him throughout his 29 years of life. From an early age, his loving spirit and vibrant personality made him unforgettable. As a child, he was a devoted member of Prairie Point Church in Macon, Mississippi, where he began building the faith and values that would guide him throughout his life. He attended Noxubee County High School and was a proud member of the Class of 2016.

Jerrico continued his journey into adulthood with a free spirit and a heart full of love, embracing life in a way that brought happiness and laughter to everyone blessed to know him. His sweet smile could light up even the darkest moments and wrapped warmth around the hearts of those he encountered. His boisterous personality was unforgettable—full of life, energy, and joy—and his presence left a lasting mark on every soul he touched.

On May 9, 2026, Jerrico gained his wings and peacefully ascended from this earthly life. Though his departure left an unimaginable void in the hearts of those who loved him, his spirit and memories will live on forever. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Dooley; his aunts, Maxine and Darlene Taylor; his uncle, Robert Dooley; his brothers, Glenn Dooley, Jr. and Micheal Taylor; his sister, Asia Taylor; and his beloved cousin, Jervarious Jackson. No doubt they welcomed him home with open arms.

He leaves behind a lifetime of fun, laughter, and cherished memories to be treasured by his loving parents, Glenn Dooley and Doreen Taylor of Macon, Mississippi; and his stepfather, Jerome Brooks, stepmother, Annie Dooley of Brooksville, MS. Jerrico’s love and legacy will continue to live on through his beloved children: Jerrico Dooley, Jr. of Louisville, Mississippi; Karson and Bryson Dooley, Ja’Mavi Dooley, all of Columbus, Mississippi; Talaysha Nichols of Crawford, Mississippi; and Julianna Spencer of Starkville, Mississippi.

He also leaves to cherish his memories his loving sisters, April Dooley, Samantha Ross, Taylaysia Brooks, and Adalene Brooks, all of Macon, Mississippi and Ashley Ross of Atlanta, Georgia; his brothers, Tyler Brooks, Jerome Brooks, Jr., Tayrn Brooks, Jayrn Brooks, and Toney McCloud, all of Macon, Mississippi, and Jomal Dooley of Jackson, Mississippi, will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Jerrico was deeply loved by his grandmothers, Sally Pearl Taylor and Mary Dooley, both of Macon, Mississippi, whose hearts will forever carry his spirit and love.

Cherishing precious memories of him are his aunts and uncles, Jim (Patricia) Dooley of Columbus, Mississippi; Marilyn (Kenneth) Knowles of Louisville, Mississippi; KaTina Dooley and Shaquitta Dooley of Atlanta, Georgia; Lisa (James) Dooley, Lisa Williams, Theresa Johnson, Olivia Brown, Shoronda Gray, Marylin Spann, Tivona Dooley, Antonio Dooley, Makayla Dooley, all of Macon, Mississippi; James Dooley, and Donald Dooley, all of Crawford, Mississippi; and Joe (Kassondra) Dooley of Jackson, Mississippi.

Everlasting memories were also shared with cousins who were more like brothers and lifelong friends, James “C’Mo” Dooley and Gabrielle Hill, all of Macon, Mississippi. Through every laugh, every memory, and every moment shared, Jerrico’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him dearly.

Jerrico was well loved by many great aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
