Jimmie Louis "Sambo" Peterson, was born Tuesday, June 26, 1949 in Crawford, Mississippi to Rebecca & Jim Peterson. Jimmie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

After completing 37 years at Baldor Electric Company, , he retired. Jimmie "Sambo" Peterson enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, helping anyone who was in need, and most of all he was never a stranger and also bought laughter to those that crossed his path.

He departed his walk of life on Saturday October 7, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He will remain in our hearts forever.

Jimmie "Sambo" Peterson is preceded in death by his father Jim Peterson, mother Rebecca Peterson, brother Frank "Wolf" Peterson, one great niece India Jackson, and nephew Sampson Edmond, III.

Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories: a loving (wife) Pastor Margaraida Stewart-Peterson of Columbus, MS; children, Sharon Brewer, Phyllis Clark, Marshanta Peterson, Makeshia Peterson & JimVierre Peterson & God-son, "CJ"; grandchildren, Demarquis Mcwhite, Dekecia Brewer, Amari Arnold, Malik Arnold, Maliah Arnold, Robert Arnold, Legacie Grant, Lyric Grant, Leah Grant, and Niyla Peterson; eleven sisters, Hattie Dell (Dock) Coleman, Willie Mac (William) Lawrence, Cora Dell (Eddie Pippins), Dorothy Edmond, Catherine (George) Lowery, Sandra Michael) Maxwell, Diane (J.P.) Perry, Mary Ann Humphries, Annie Sherrod, Mary Louise (Charles) Webber and Lisa (Nate) Rogers; six brothers, Johnny (Mosclla) Hill, Nathaniel (Telesia) Peterson, Jessie (Allison) Peterson, Willic Sallie Hairston and Eddie (Brenda) Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many, many friends that cherish and loved him dearly.
