Obituary

Jimmie Lee Shelton, son of the late John and Mattie M. Shelton, was born July 11, 1961, in Brooksville, MS. (Fairport Community) and was the ninth of twelve siblings. He accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Pastor J.H. Cockrell at Union Chapel M.B. Church. Jimmie was a graduate of Noxubee County High School, and the class of 1979 (Macon, MS).   He worked for the City of Columbus briefly after graduating high school.  He led a quiet life and never bothered anyone. Jimmie enjoyed the family trip to Florida last year. He often asked about the family planning the next trip.  He loved listening to the radio and dancing to the music.

Death is inevitable but Jimmie's demise was met at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS on April 7, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.  He will truly be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Maggie B. Shelton, and brother Ruben Shelton.

Jimmie's memories will forever be cherished by his siblings: L.V. Shelton of Wilmington, CA, Willie Shelton of Brooksville, MS, Lillie Shelton of Columbus, MS, Hazel Shelton of Abilene, TX, Mary Shelton-Ross of Biloxi, MS, Willie James Shelton of Brooksville, MS, Leon Shelton of Abilene, TX, John Earl Shelton of Cypress, CA, and Anthony Shelton of Long Beach, CA,  and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
