John "Sam" Stovall, Jr. was born on May 10, 1952, in Oktibbeha County Mississippi, to Sallie L Hodges and John Stovall, Sr. He was a cherished individual whose spirit and dedication left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Upon graduating from B.L. Moor High School, he began laying the foundation for a life filled with hard work and passion. He took great pride in his career as a furniture finisher, where his meticulous craftsmanship and eye for detail transformed ordinary pieces into extraordinary works of art. His commitment to his craft was evident in every project he undertook, and he found joy in creating beautiful furniture that brought comfort and style to many homes.
A devoted fan of the Miami Dolphins, his enthusiasm for football was a defining aspect of his personality. He loved sharing game days with family and friends, passionately cheering for his team, and engaging in spirited discussions about the sport. His love for the Dolphins was a testament to his loyalty and love for the sport.
Above all, he cherished his family. He was a loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, brother, and friend, always ready to offer support, encouragement, and a listening ear. His home was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and togetherness, where memories were made and cherished. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, who will remember him for his kindness, humor, and unwavering zest for life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Stovall, Sr. and Sallie L. Hodges, his son, Byron Dewayne Stovall, his siblings, Milton Stovall, John Louis Peterson, Kleban Hodges, and Julie Crusoe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 1/2 years Livian Wicks Stovall; two sons, Reginald Fulton of Columbus, MS and Johnathan (Rose) Stovall of Charlotte, NC; five grand- children, Quenesha, Zina, and Caelynn Fulton, Chandler and Chadley Stovall; two great-granddaughters Kamiyah and Kamari Fulton; his siblings, Willie (Angel) Stovall of Crawford, MS, Jessie (Carolyn) Warren of Starkville, MS, Barbara (John) Clark and Katherine Washington of Crawford, MS, Jesse Mae (Ricky) Tate, Dorothy Warren, Jennifer (Wallace) Phillips, Debra (Terry) Gilkey, Rebecca (Tyrone) Stallings all of Starkville, MS, Annie D. Norman of Los Angeles, CA, Carlene Stovall of Chicago, IL and Annie Dell Fulton of Artesia, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and honorary nieces and nephews from Maben High School who will carry his memory forward. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.
