Kennedy Elester
Roland
January 29, 1964 – May 21, 2026
Kennedy Elester Roland, a man whose gentle spirit and enduring love enriched the lives of all who knew him, departed from this earthly realm on May 21, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT. Born on January 29, 1964, in Columbus, MS, to the late George and Sarah Roland, Kennedy’s life was a testament to his unwavering faith, his dedication to family, and his profound appreciation for the natural world.
At an early age, Kennedy confessed his hope in Christ at Baptist Grove in Ethelsville, AL, a spiritual foundation that guided him throughout his years. He dedicated many years of service to the City of Columbus Public Works, where his commitment was evident to his colleagues and community.
A true lover of nature, Kenny found solace and joy outdoors. His passion for gardening was well-known, and he cultivated not only beautiful plants but also deep connections with his loved ones. He cherished his family above all else, especially his beloved nieces and nephews, whose lives he touched with his boundless affection. An avid and loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he brought enthusiasm to every game.
Kennedy was preceded in death by his devoted parents, George and Sarah Roland; his brothers, Raymond E. Roland and Michael Roland; and his aunt, Mildred Dismuke.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories and celebrate his enduring legacy, his siblings, Martha Roland McCoy of Decatur, GA; Brenda K. Garner of Columbus, MS; Bettie A. (Nathaniel) Key of Stockbridge, GA; Janice Tate of Columbus, MS; and Andre (Wini) Roland of Clarkston, GA. He is also survived by his aunt, Virginia Miller, and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. Kennedy's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to blossom in the lives he touched.
