Kevin "Bug"
Dyshan Davis
April 30, 1972 – November 24, 2025
Kevin Dyshan "Bug" Davis, born April 30, 1972, in Columbus, MS, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted family and friends. From an early age, Kelvin's life was rooted in faith. He accepted Christ at St. James United Methodist Church, where he developed the spiritual grounding that shaped his character, his compassion, and the way he carried himself throughout his journey.
Kevin earned the nickname "Bug" from his uncle Eddie-a name that stuck because it fit his warm personality, easy-going spirit, and signature smile. He had a lively love for travel and shopping, always excited to discover new places and collect unique finds. His curiosity and joy made him a bright presence wherever he went.
A proud 1990 graduate of Caldwell High School, Kevin continued his education at Rust College in Holly Springs, MS, before courageously serving his country in the United States Army. His sense of duty, discipline, and pride in his service were evident in the way he lived and worked. For 31 dedicated years, Kevin was employed with Weyerhauser-now International Paper-where he served as a supervisor at the paper plant. Known for his strong work ethic, steady leadership, and reliability, he was deeply respected by his colleagues and remembered as someone who could be counted on in every situation.
Outside of work, Kevin was a devoted father and a loyal family man. His daughters, Aleyah and Alexia, were his heart, and he always made time for the people he loved. He was also a committed Steelers fan, rarely missing a chance to cheer for his team. Whether he was watching a game or spending time at His and Hers Cigar Lounge, Kevin created meaningful connections and lasting friendships.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents Adam and Lena Davis, Classie and Eddie Griffin, his brother Darrell Ball, and nephew Dejuan Davis. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents Sammie and Linda Ball; daughters Aleyah and Alexia Davis of Columbus; brothers Arnold (Eugenia) of Memphis, TN, Andrew (Debra), and Michael (Dorothy); sisters, Samietra Smith and Samantha Smith all of Columbus, MS; his fiancee Shareka Brooks of Columbus, MS; a Goddaughter, Mary Catherine Blunt of Columbus, MS; and a special niece, Courtney Davis of Memphis, TN. He also leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, co-workers, and friends who were touched by his kindness and presence.
Kevin "Bug" Davis lived a life marked by love, loyalty, laughter, and faith. His impact will continue to be felt, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and cherished him. May his spirit shine as a beacon of strength and treasured memories.
