Lenora Dumas
Johnson
September 6, 1953 – April 19, 2025
"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
II Timothy 4:6-7
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of our beloved Lenora Dumas Johnson fondly known to many as "Net." Lenora was a beacon of light, known for her unwavering compassion, tireless work ethic, and her God given gift for care giving.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing that Lenora is resting in the arms of the Lord, reunited with those who have gone before her, and hearing the words, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Lenora dedicated much of her life to serving others particularly through private sitting with the elderly. With gentle hands and a nurturing spirit, she provided comfort, companionship, and dignity to those in their vulnerable moments. She gave love freely, often going beyond the call of duty-not for recognition, but because that's who she was at heart.
Lenora lived by the words of Galatians 6:9 "and let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season, we shall reap if we faint not." She never grew weary in doing good. Her service was her ministry, and she walked in love daily.
Born to her loving parents, Walter Dumas, Sr., and Lucille Wilson Dumas, Lenora carried with her the values of faith, family, and service from an early age. In addition to her parents, Lenora was preceded in death by her nine siblings: D.L., Curtis, Arlander, Jimmy Lee, Walter Jr, and Leon Dumas, Booker T. Dankins, Bernice Rice, and Geneva Nance, and a noteworthy niece, Helen Harris.
Lenora is survived by her beloved daughter, Astre L. Dumas and her devoted son, Aaron S. Dumas; 4 grandchildren, William (Maya), Tevin, Aarionna, and Erin Dumas, 4 great- grandchildren, Braylen Jones, William Jr., Conner, and De'Anthony Dumas, who were the light of her life, two sisters, Ozzie Rhone and Daisy Thomas; a special niece and nephew, Laura Sherman and Demetrius Thomas; a bonus dedicated friend, Nitiya Barry; and a host of other family members, good friends, and those whose lives were forever touched by her presence.
Lenora leaves behind a legacy of love, selflessness, and faith that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known her.
