Obituary

Lovie Mae Walker Richardson, daughter of the late Lafayette Walker, Sr. and Fannie Brunner Walker was born June 26, 1939, in Columbus, MS. She attended R.E. Hunt High School and graduated in 1958. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ at Military Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a dedicated member. At Military Chapel, she served faithfully in the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Mississippi and Alabama Shape Note Singers and served as a Treasurer.

Lovie attended Mississippi Valley State University and Copiah-Lincoln Community College and studied nursing. She accepted an internship at Charity Hospital in Natchez, MS and became a surgical nurse. Lovie united in holy matrimony to Quilla S. Richardson, Jr. until his death in 1973. She moved to Caledonia, MS in 1991 to care for her mother. Lovie worked for the Golden Triangle Planning and Development District, Inc./Meals on Wheel. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, bowling, and being an Avon representative.

Lovie quietly departed this life Wednesday, April 10th at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, MS. She was preceded in death by parents, Lafayette Walker, Sr. and Fannie Brunner Walker and by four brothers, Marcellas "Charlie" Walker, Lafayette Walker, Jr., Jimmy Walker, and William T. Walker, Sr.

Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her daughter, Fannie (Larry) Coleman of Florence, MS; grandchildren, Lorenzo, Ciara and brother, Alvin (Bertha) Walker of Tuskegee, AL; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
