Mother Magnolia Johnson entered this world on November 29, 1933, in Lowndes County, MS to Willie, Sr. and Eliza Weaver Jones. She was raised in the Concord Community until moving to Columbus in her later years. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Concord Independent Methodist Church where she served as an usher and president of the missionary society until her health failed.
Magnolia began her employment in domestic work. She later worked with First Presbyterian Church in the custodial department for 15 years. Magnolia met and married James T. Johnson until his death. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time in her yard as well as fishing. She had a fond love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as she assisted her daughter, Deloris with caretaking. Magnolia also enjoyed traveling.
Magnolia departed this life on October 23, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her siblings: John Henry Jones, Willie J. Jones, Jr., George Jones, Christine Jones Saddler, and Henrietta Jones.
Magnolia Johnson's memories will forever be cherished by: her daughter, Deloris Jones of Columbus, MS; her grandchildren, James G. Jones and Jameta R. Jones; her great- grandchildren, Jasielle L. Shelton and Zoey R. Jones; her sister, Florinteen Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
