Major Leon Long, who left this world on July 31, 2025, at his residence was born on December 23, 2009, in Columbus, Mississippi, Major was a beloved son to Pierce and Brittany Long and a cherished friend to many.

Major was a vibrant young man whose spirit shone brightly in all that he did. As a student at New Hope High School, he participated in football and love for weight lifting which reflected his commitment to personal growth and strength, both physically and in character. He was a kind-hearted soul who embraced life with enthusiasm, whether he was immersed in his favorite video games—especially Madden and NCAA—or enjoying the simple pleasures of driving his mom around, reading, and listening to music. His love for the color green mirrored his vibrant personality, symbolizing his zest for life and the joy he brought to those around him.

Major's laughter, kindness, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Priscilla Long and his uncle, James Long Jr; and his cousin, Baby Amari Long.

Major leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Brittany and Pierce Long of Columbus, MS; his siblings, Pierce Long, Jr., Jayden Long, and Aubree' Long; his grandparents, Annie Pearl Lee, Joseph Harris, and Rev. James (Maxine) Long, Sr; his aunts, Latresia (Robert) Williams, Tosunda (Marcus) Hill, and Chelsey Ross; his uncles, LaMichael Lee, Sedrick  (Veronica) Lee, Cornita Sherrod, Jeremy (Devisha) Long, Melissa Long and Brandy Harris; his God-Parents, Curtis Leech, Jr. and Neika Donley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
