Marcell Hill Sr. was born in Lowndes County on June 21, 1951, to Annie Ruth Guyton-Hill and John Hill Sr. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Northside Missionary Baptist Church where he was later ordained as a deacon. He attended R.E. Hunt High School, Class of 1969. After high school, he began his career in the Navy. He later attended college and received his Associate degree from Mary Holmes and East Mississippi Community College. During this time, he met the love of his life, Hilda Ann Pratt (Hill). Their union was blessed with three children. They exchanged vows on March 1, 1974, and shared 49 wonderful years together. He was later employed as a Supervisor at General Tire in Columbus, MS.

Marcell had a passion for real estate investments and other business ventures. He loved to find undesirable property into affordable housing for many families in Columbus, MS.  Marcell was considered the home improvement king of the community. He provided jobs for many people in the community.  He also had a love for animals. He enjoyed walking trails on the weekend and had a Thanksgiving tradition of walking with his sons.  He also was a kindhearted person who was always willing to give you a second chance.  His greatest love was spoiling his "children" and "grands".

Marcell departed this life on Sunday, July 23, 2023, in Meridian, MS. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John Hill Sr., Annie Ruth Guyton-Hill and brothers, Clarence Davis Sr, Henry Guyton, and John Hill Jr.

His memories will forever be cherished by his wife , Hilda Ann Hill Columbus, MS; children, Tunya Bell Andrade( Homer) ;Riverview, FL, Landry Jabbar Hill ( LaTasha) of Columbus, MS, Marcell Hill Jr. ( Rosie) of Southaven, MS, DeVaris Lee, and Ashley T. Hill ,both of Columbus, MS; brother, Willie T. Hill Clearwater, FL; sisters Johnnie Mae Matthews, Emma Lee Griggs, Brenda Washington, Bernice Hill, Juanita Hill all of Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Tyra L. Hill, Cassiana Hill, both of Hoover, Al; Amaris J. Hill of Southaven, MS; Deandra Andrade, Donovan Andrade, Demari Andrade, and  Destiny Andrade all of Riverview, FL; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
