Mary Etta Wells was born September 5, 1936, to Edna Baker and John Tyler Wells in Columbus, MS. Mary departed this Earthly Tabernacle on June 6, 2024, peacefully.

From an early age, Mary Etta had a strong faith in Christ, where she was a devout believer, finding solace and strength in her religious beliefs.

Mary worked tirelessly for MUW where she was known as a cook for over 30 years. She delighted the faculty and students with her delicious meals. Her dedication and passion for cooking brought joy to many.

Mary Etta will be remembered for her warm heart, kind spirit, and her love for her family and friends. She touched many lives with her generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand.

She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. She had a deep passion for exploring new places and she embraced each adventure with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother, Mary Hackman and her sisters, Mary Wells and Betty Wells.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories to her sons, William E. (Kathy) Wells of Hephzibah, GA, Arthur Jerome Baker and Mark Anthony Wells both of Columbus, MS, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; one brother, Bobby Wells of Vero Beach, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
