Mary was born on December 13, 1951, in Columbus, MS to the late Tommie and Cherry Hill.
She graduated from Robert E. Hunt High School, where she was an exceptional student, she graduated in 1969 and attended Rust College in Holly Spring, Mississippi, graduating with a degree in business.

Those left to cherish her memories are Harcourt "Harry" Holder (husband) of Newnan, GA; children, Uzuri Holder of North Carolina; Husani (Ashley) Holder and grandson (Malaki), both of South Carolina; five sisters: Cherry Hill (Robert) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Patricia Smith (Lee) of Alpharetta, GA; Carlie Sutton (Sherrell Carl) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Jackie Lee of Lawrenceville, GA; and Laquita Lomax (Marvin) of Columbus, MS; two brothers, Michael Hill and Fredrick Hill, both of Columbus, MS, along with a host of close nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
