Sis. Mattie Lou Blunt Bush was born on December 22, 1931 in Columbus, MS to Nathaniel Blunt, Sr. and Mary E. Shambley Blunt. She received her education at a young age until she began her employment. She worked as a custodian at MUW until her retirement. Sis. Bush confessed Christ as her personal savior at a young age. She was a lifetime member of Brick M.B. Church. She served faithfully in various ministries as Church Secretary, Senior Choir President, and founder of the children's choir.

Sis. Mattie Lou Blunt Bush departed her earthly life on April 2, 2023 in Columbus, MS. She is preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Blunt, Sr.; her husband, Alcurtis Bush; siblings: Rev. Nathan Blunt, Sr., Ray Blunt, Eddie Blunt, Sr., Robert Jenkins, Annie Archibald, and Sammie Little.

Sis. Mattie Lou Blunt Bush leaves to cherish her memories: siblings: Alexander Blunt, Robert (Janis) Blunt, Sr., Mary R. Little, and Irene Springer all of Columbus, MS, and Georgia M. Blunt Mathieu of Shreveport, LA; her stepchildren: Walter (Johnnie) Bush, Amos Lyons, Herbert Davis all of Columbus, MS, Alcurtis Bush, Jr. of Long Island, NY, Sarah Bush of Gulfport, MS, Diane Bush of Ratcliff, KY, Chinelle Summerville of Memphis, TN, and Keashia Little of Newport News, VA; a special niece, Abigail Little; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
