Obituary

Mrs. Sallie Mae Harris Was born June 6, 1954 to Elbert and Annie Gunter.  She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bibleway Progressive C.O.G.I.C.  She served faithfully until her health begin to fail. She was a dedicated kitchen committee worker, usher and whatever asked of her she would do.  She loved to feed the hungry and the community.

She was united in holy matrimony to Robert Harris on January 4, 1996.  She received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development from Ashford University.  She was a dedicated childcare provider at the Child Development Center on Columbus Air Force Base for 34 years where she retired in 2019. She volunteered at the Concord Community Center for the Senior's Program where she served as secretary.

She was called to rest from labor on Friday, February 2, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Deloistine Johnson and Lillie Blevins; brothers, Cornell Gunter and Hosie Gunter.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  her loving husband, Robert Harris; two daughters, Katrina Gunter of Columbus, MS and Sashe Love of Atlanta, GA; her step-daughter, Detrish Bailey; grand- daughter, Sache Love and grandson Bryson Smith; great-grand daughter, Harmoni Fisher; sisters,  Lucy Leech, Betty Colebrook, Tippie (Eddie) Barry, Brenda (Arthur) Hamilton, Linda (James) Franklin; brothers, Robert Gunter and Elbert Gunter Jr.; two aunts:  Mirk Jethrow and Catherine Moore.  She had a special place in her heart for what she called her God given children,  Freddie Williams, Tiffany Taylor, Tyesha Haynes, Brittany Taylor-Pickens, Damon McCoy and Javoris Johnson.  She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; a special niece Gloria (Michael) Fite. She will be missed by all.
