Obituary

Sarah Earlene Haley Cribbs of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away at her residence on September 20, 2022; family and loved ones surrounded her.

On November 10, 1938, Sarah was born in the small town of Reform, Alabama, to loving parents Earl Haley and Ometa Grove Haley Spruill. Years following, the family relocated to Columbus, where she would graduate from Hunt High School in 1958. She was a hard worker, a resilient figure in the face of adversity, and a person who provided exemplary effort. After graduation, she worked in domestic care and retail before transitioning to the healthcare industry. For forty-seven years, Sarah selflessly worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant throughout Chicago Heights, Illinois, and Columbus, helping patients with activities of daily living and other healthcare needs until her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tommie Cribbs, Sr.; siblings, Dale Haley and Emma Jean Haley.

In 1959, she met the love of her life Tommie Lee Cribbs. Deeply in love, they would actively seek adventures and look forward to a long and happy life together. She is survived by their three lovely children: Cynthia Cribbs and Armetrise Cribbs of Columbus, MS, Tommy Cribbs Jr. and his wife, Monique of Leavenworth, KS; six grandchildren, Tita, Kamesha, Josielyn, Coree, Tomia, and Morgan; thirteen great-grandchildren, Darrion, Britney, Chelsey, Jason, Jalon, Keyonnie, Janiya, Journee, Jordan, Jimmy, Haley Rai, Kaisen, and Antonio; two great-great-grandchildren, Chance and Kingston; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. She is also survived by her three sisters, Renee (Sammy), Christine, Earlene (Herbert), and brother, Mack Arthur.

Sarah was known for being incredibly passionate about the simplicities of life: spending time with family, talking with siblings, watching soap operas, playing cards, and shopping. She never hesitated to display her friendliness and express how much she loved people. Being humbly social was a special gift upon which she bestowed. She will be truly missed.
