Sarah Sue Stewart was born April 22, 1951, in Shuqualak, MS, to the late Robert and Mattie Lee Maxwell.
Sarah departed this life on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Noxubee General Nursing Home in Macon, MS.
She attended Noxubee County High School, class of 1972. She was employed by Shuqualak Glove Factory in Shuqualak, MS, Cal-Jac, and Happy Start in Macon, MS. She was also a home-care worker for Ability Works out of Louisville, MS.
She accepted Christ at a early age at St. Peter United Methodist Church and joined Ivy Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Shuqualak, MS where she served as a faithful member until her health began to fail.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis Stewart Jr, and a special auntie, Mable Calhoun Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memories: seven children, Margaret (Tyrone) Steele of DeKalb, MS, Tyrone (Janice) Maxwell, Tera Maxwell, Curtis (Latisha) Stewart, Mattie (Jessie) Gardner of Tupelo, MS, Jamarl Stewart of Pontotoc, MS, and Temera Maxwell of DeKalb, MS; fifteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; six siblings, Willie Earl Lockett of Meridian, MS, Robert Earl (Eva) Maxwell of Scooba, MS, Sadie Stewart, Roosevelt Maxwell, Hugh (Delores) Maxwell of Shuqualak, MS, Dean (Elaine) Maxwell of Franklin, NJ; two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law; a special friend, Mosie L. (Bo) Thomas of Macon, MS; another mother/auntie, Luella Griffin of Shuqualak, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
