Bro. Selmon C. Guyton entered this world to his parents, John B. and Stella Mae Guyton on May 20, 1963, in Lowndes County, MS. Selmon accepted Christ as his personal savior during his younger years and joined the Glorius Church of God in Christ. Later in life, he joined the All Nations Church of Jesus Christ where he enjoyed playing the drums and leading songs. He was educated in the Columbus City Schools and earned his high school diploma from S.D. Lee High School in 1981.
Selmon, known as "Sarge", was a hardworking man that was talented with his hands. He was a great auto mechanic as well as a household repair man. Whatever he touched with his hands, he repaired with passion. He enjoyed providing great care for family and friends in any capacity.
Selmon departed this life on January 11, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Classie Lee; and his brothers, Orlando Guyton, Curtis Guyton, John Guyton, O'Neal Guyton, and Willie C. Guyton.
Selmon's memories will forever be cherished by: three sons: Jacob Allen of Minot, ND, Kelvin (Erika) Jackson of Jackson, TN, and Alton Allen of Jacksonville, FL; five sisters, Lula (Ivory) Williams, Jeanette Manning, Elizabeth Guyton, and Lutricia Smith all of Columbus, MS, and Susie K. Guyton of Tuscaloosa, AL; his grandchildren, Albriah, Alton, Jr., Trewayne, Kamrin, Jailyn, Royal, Royalty, Syrius, Antarious, Kel'Vyianna and Kelvin, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Khylan and Khari; and a host of relatives and friends.
