Obituary

Shawn Williams, born on November 10, 1976, in Columbus, Mississippi, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose light shone brightly in the lives of all who knew him. He was the cherished son of Lucy Sykes Williams and Ronald Gray, and he grew up as an active member of Mt. Ary Baptist Church in Columbus before becoming a valued member of Christ Temple C.M.E. Church in Oxford, Mississippi.

A proud graduate of New Hope High School, Shawn pursued his passion for hospitality by earning an Associate Degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management from East Mississippi Community College, along with a CDL license. His professional journey included over five years as Kitchen Manager at Reuben's Catfish House, a decade of dedicated service with the City of Oxford, and four years with Hepaco. At the time of his passing, he was working at FedEx, where he was known for his strong work ethic and warm demeanor.

Shawn was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his wife, Shanda Williams, his three daughters, Tachovia Hudson, Abreanna Brown, and Kaleah Hudson, and his five granddaughters, Aurielle Brown, Aires Brown, Rya Hudson, Raleigh Hudson, and Asyla Pegues. He could often be found sitting on the porch, watching his granddaughters play, or cheering passionately for the Mississippi State Bulldogs from the comfort of his couch. His laughter and spirit brought joy to those around him, and he will be remembered as one of the sweetest souls to grace this earth.

In addition to his immediate family, Shawn is survived by his two brothers, Rodney Gray (Chisato) and Marcus Gray; his sister, Tanya Gray. He shared a special bond with his three cousins, Leticia Curd (Kenneth), Robert Sykes Jr., and Robie Ann Smith (Patrick), who were like siblings to him. He is also survived by two uncles, Robert Sykes (Annie Ruth) and Donald Gray; aunt, Rachel Gray Barry of Columbus, MS; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
