Obituary

Sue Willie Brooks was born in Brooksville, MS on June 14, 1943 to Mandy and Robert Lee Williams. She confessed Christ at an early age at Harrison Grove M.B. Church in Brooksville, MS. She attended schools and received her high school diploma at B.L. Moor High School. Sue began her employment with the Head start where she was employed for 27 years. She later employed with West Lowndes Elementary in the cafeteria until retirement.

Sue Willie, known as THE GIRL, enjoyed fishing and singing. She was a member of Beulah Grove Full Gospel Baptist Church. She was an active member of the choir and often lead worship with her wonderful voice. She not only sang in church but in the community. Sue Willie was loved by her family, friends, and community. She never met a stranger and received anyone she met with open arms and love. She always had a conversation for you.

Sue Willie Brooks departed this life on November 27, 2022 at her residence in the Artesia community.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, her grandparents:  Tommie and Sue Willie Stevenson; her brothers: Robert Williams, T.L. Williams, and Jimmie Williams; her sister, Lizzie Shields.

Sue leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 54 years, Jessie Brooks of Artesia, MS; her children, Sandra K. Neal and Lionel (Patonya) Brooks both of Artesia, MS, Julian Brooks, Rolanda Brooks, Jeremy (Shameka) Brooks, and Alicia Brooks all of Columbus, MS; her sisters, Sallie (Elroy) Johnson of Memphis, TN, Lois Bell, Flint, MI, Maria (Garfield) Brooks of Artesia, MS, Marie Hairston of Columbus, MS, Daisy Williams and Dorothy (Larry) Wilson both of Memphis, TN; her brothers, Curtis Williams and Earnest (Pattie) Williams both of Flint, MI, and Charlie Williams of CA; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her special sister, Vallie Grace Cunningham; her special daughter, Moesha Brewer; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
