Thaddeus A.
"Tres" Harrison, Iii
July 28, 2008 – April 8, 2025
Story Of A Miracle
He wasn't expected to make it, but he did. Our baby, our miracle, our extraordinary gift defied what
was known to man and wrote his own life story.
Thaddeus Alonzo Harrison, III—affectionately called Tres—was born July 28, 2008, in Atlanta,
Georgia, to Thaddeus A. and Glenda Williams Harrison, Jr. Tres was a bright light that touched the
lives of so many. The way he lived, laughed, and loved will remain in the hearts and minds of
everyone that knew and loved him. He was the only child and only grandchild in both the Harrison
and Williams families. That alone made him very special. Tres was showered with love and affection
by many cousins, aunts, great-aunts, great-uncles, and extended family and friends.
Born with a rare Congenital Heart Defect, Tres defied medical odds and lived vibrantly for 16 years, 8
months, and 11 days—a miracle from God. His life was a joyful journey of love, music, learning, and
faith.
Tres began his education journey in the Boston Public School System while receiving expert care
from Boston Children's Hospital. Upon returning to Georgia, his education continued at Porter
Academy, Laurel Ridge Elementary, and Druid Hills Middle School, where he joined the band, Beta
Club, and earned honors such as Board Scholar and IB Learner of the Year. He was a junior at Shiloh
High School, where he also participated in band, as well as community skills programs. His
leadership abilities were evident and were demonstrated when among his peers. He always led with
kindness and heart.
Tres was a true techie—glued to his Apple gadgets—and a lifelong fan of Sonic, Mario, Marvel, DC,
and Disney. His musical tastes spanned everything from gospel to jingles, old-school R&B to kids' rap
artists like That Girl Lay-Lay and Baby Kaely.
At age 6, Tres joined Mount Moriah Church, accepted Christ, and was baptized at 13. He was a
faithful member and remained active in the Youth Choir and various other programs until he answered
God's call.
In March, Tres fell ill due to complications from his CHD. After a brave and hard fight, he passed
peacefully in his sleep on April 8, 2025, at AMB Children's Hospital, surrounded by his devoted
parents and a team of loving, determined, and dedicated cardiac staff and caregivers.
Tres is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Willie L. Williams and Thaddeus A. Harrison, Sr. He
leaves to cherish his memory: his loving parents; grandmothers (Grams) Eva N. Harrison and
(Granny) Geraldine H. Petty (Pop-pop-James E.); aunts Veronica L. Harrison, Wanda T. Williams, and
Connie Williams, a host of Mississippi cousins, and extended family, both far and near. In addition, a
Special BFF – H and the Druid Middle crew – M, T plus the Shiloh crew – D, B, C, C, K, X, D, K, S, E
and N.
Tres lived fully, laughed often, and loved deeply. His life was short in numbers, but it was rich in love
and experiences. His journey of life will always remind us of what it means to believe, how to push
through despite the odds, and to shine our light even when it feels dark.
Thaddeus Alonzo Harrison III, Tres' absence will be deeply felt today, tomorrow, and forever.
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes: there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor
crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
