December 26, 1962 – May 18, 2024
Wanda J. Lavender was born December 26, 1962 in Columbus, MS to the late Frankie L. Lavender and Eugene Sims. Wanda confessed her belief in Christ at an early age and joined Glenn Chapel C.M.E. Church. There she remained a member until later joining A Place For ME Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Judy Bennett. Wanda worked at Hunt High School and other jobs in between before ending her working career at Helen's Kitchen, where she remained for many years.
Wanda departed her earthly life on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Aurora Nursing Home in Columbus, MS. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frankie Lavender; father, Eugene Sims; sister, Frances L. Bradford; nephew, Daryel Lavender; and grandmother, Luvenia Hood Lavender.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Laverne L. Ellis of Columbus, MS; brothers: Charlie and Willie Lavender of Columbus, MS; two aunts: Sandra(Emmitt)Johnson of Columbus, MS and Annie(Jeremiah)Thomas of South Bay, FL; uncles: Johnny Lavender of Memphis, TN and William Lavender of Columbus, MS. Wanda will also be remembered by a special friend, Esau Dent; two special nieces whom she shared a close bond, Yanci Lavender and Nicole(Marvin)Congious both of Columbus, MS; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and close friends.
Wanda was loved by many and will be remembered for her proper ascent and bold demeanor. She will truly be missed.
