Willie B. Jones, affectionately known as "BuBu," was born on August 30, 1955, in Noxubee County, Mississippi, to William Mitchell Jones and Stella Mae Jones. A true country boy at heart, Willie embraced the beauty of nature, finding joy in gardening and nurturing flowers. He also enjoyed the challenge of puzzle books, which kept his mind sharp and engaged.
Willie was known for his strong opinions and wisdom, often sharing valuable advice with those around him. He began his professional journey at Johnston Tombigbee, where he worked his way up to a supervisory position, and later continued his career at Sanderson Plumbing. His colleagues respected him for his dedication and leadership.
On August 28, Willie married the love of his life, Rosetta, and together they shared 32 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and companionship. Their relationship was a beautiful testament to the power of love and partnership, creating countless cherished memories.
Willie passed away on August 23, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Melissia Hughes, and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosetta Jones of Columbus, MS; his children, Latasha (Xavier) Jones of Jackson, MS, Lakeshia (Anthony McCoy) Hairston of Columbus, MS, John (Laquitta) Hughes of Southaven, MS and Courtavis Hairston of Memphis, TN; his siblings, Angela Stewart, Mitchell Jones, Lula B. Jones and Mary (John) White all of Brooksville, MS, Eddie (Margie) Jones and Delois (Dennis) Buckhalter both of Columbus, MS, Danny Earl (Elyondia) of Macon, MS and Lucille Washington of South Carolina; his brothers in-law and sisters in-law: Henry (Diane) Hughes of Jackson, MS, David Lee (Doreen) Hughes of Picayune, MS, Alonzo (Cassandra) Hughes of Norristown, PA, Alphonso Hughes of Columbus, MS, James Henry Hughes of Jackson, MS, Elaine McGhee of Columbus, MS, Gwendolyn Hughes of Jackson, MS; eight grandchildren; one uncle, James Earl Wells of Naranja, FL; one aunt, Lue Jean (Johnny) Young of Brooksville, MS; special friends: Willie and Maurice Riley both of Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
